Mom to begin latest round of chemo this week

Mom’s latest appointment last Monday (September 6th) showed slight improvement with her red blood count, although lower than ideal, and her white counts remained low as before. Mom’s electrolytes seemed to be holding steady and at comfortable levels. In light of this, and assuming her labs are within acceptable levels, mom will begin her intrathecal chemotherapy on Friday (September 17th). She is to return again the following Monday for more lab work. We are under the impression that mom will receive treatments every two to three weeks, with a total of four treatments in all.

Mom’s taste remains unchanged and still gives her difficulty eating. This, along with the radiation treatments, is a possible explanation of why her blood counts remain low. Mom really needs to eat more, but her list of foods she actually can eat seems to shrink every week.

I think that does it for now. I will post more soon.
